Things You Wear: Mister Rogers has a three-cornered hat and sings the familiar song, "My Hat, It Has Three Corners." When Mr. McFeely joins him on a bus ride, they see lots of people, including some wearing hats. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Mayor Maggie's gift of a three-cornered hat for King Friday leads him to make a rule that everyone must wear one.
Tuesday, Oct. 19
Things You Wear: Mister Rogers tries on Bob Dog's costume and helps children understand it's who is inside that makes a difference, not what you wear. Neighbor Marilyn Barnett stops by to do some exercises. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, everyone wears a three-cornered hat except Lady Elaine, who is in her WN ("Will Not") Room. Mister Rogers says that when children feel like being in a "Will Not" room, it can help to talk about their feelings with the people they love.
Wednesday, Oct. 20
Things You Wear: Mister Rogers has lots of different shoes today and talks about the work people do when they wear them. One pair belong to organist Alan Morrison who shows how he uses his fingers and feet to play the organ. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine squirts anyone who mentions a "three-cornered hat!" Back in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, Mr. McFeely has a videotape about How People Make Grocery Bags.
Thursday, Oct. 21
Things You Wear: Mister Rogers shows the foot cast and crutches he had when he hurt his ankle a while ago. He visits Chef Brockett who is now using crutches after his leg operation. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Lady Elaine's visitor finds a solution for the "three-cornered" rule. Mister Rogers meets two young musical brothers (wearing recital clothes) who play flute and clarinet, accompanied by pianist Alan Morrison.
Friday, Oct. 22
Things You Wear: Mister Rogers has two videos about things people wear. One is from the Colonial Williamsburg Millinery Shop, which shows how people make three-cornered hats. The second is a tape of how people make blue jeans. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, everyone has a three-cornered hat. Mister Rogers helps children know that when people fight to be the most important, like King Friday and Lady Elaine, they're not much fun to be with. Everybody has something special inside themand nobody is more important than anybody else.
