Combining interviews with Dahl, readings from his books, animated images and scenes from his plots, captioned demonstrations of his various writing devices, and humorous discussions by two presenters, this vivid and lively series will help readers and writers learn about one of the world's most popular children's authors. We also make several visits to the place where he wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach, among other well-known works. The programs are aligned with national and state language arts and literature standards, in which reading is universally taught through respected children's literature. The series teaches literary reading strategies such as character development and figures of speech (metaphors, similes, hyperbole) as well as writing strategies.
