Monday, Aug. 16
"Baby Bear Tries to Teach Curly to Draw" Baby Bear is excited about trying to teach Curly Bear how to draw and Oscar and Grundgetta cant wait for something really grouchy to happen. However, Oscar is in for a big disappointment because Baby Bear shows great patience and defends his little sisters right to scribble and do what she can with her crayons. She even takes the crayon that Baby Bear is using and draws on his picture. Much to Oscars dismay, Baby Bear remains patient and understanding of how young Curly is and how much she still needs to learn. Baby Bear even teaches Curly a great song about sharing, but he realizes that maybe shes just not quite ready to share. Oscar and Grundgetta are thoroughly disappointed. It was not a grouchy day. Theme: Social Interactions. Letter Q. Number 16.

Tuesday, Aug. 17
"Telly Joins the Letter of the Month Club" While Alan is preparing Hoopers Store for Henrietta Honkers birthday, Telly Monster comes in and tells Alan just how excited he is to be a new member of the "Letter of the Month Club!" Just then, the delivery man, Vinnie, arrives at Hoopers Store with Tellys first letter, the letter "A." Then, noticing how excited Telly is about his letter, Vinnie then comes back with more letters of the alphabet, which are each designed differently to show a word that starts with that letter. For example, theres a button on the letter "D," and if you press it, the letter "D" says, " D, duh, dog&" Hoopers Store is now filled will letters and letter sounds, and there doesnt seem to be room for everyone whos coming to celebrate Henriettas Honkers birthday. Telly then realizes that while he loves his alphabet collection, he loves his buddy Alan even more, and cares about his friends birthday party. Although Telly knows he will miss his letters, he shows how much he cares by telling Vinnie to take out all the letters out of Hoopers Store in order to make room for the party. Just then, Vinnie returns with a miniature collection of the alphabet for Telly, who is happily surprised! Theme: Literacy and Coping w/ Emotions. Letter R. Number 18.

Wednesday, Aug. 18
"Cookie Monster Writes A Story" Cookie Monster is getting nervous and impatient since he has just eaten the very last cookie at Hoopers Store and has to wait for Alan to bake more. Cookie Monster tries to think of different ways to stop thinking about cookies for a while, but its just too hard. Then, Gabi encourages Cookie Monster to use his imagination to make up a story about cookies to help time go by faster. Together, they write a fun, creative story about King Cookie who lived in the Kingdom of Cookie. In the story, King Cookie is happy with his life, but he still feels that theres something missing. He tries to figure out what is missing from his life, when all of a sudden, a child comes in and offers King Cookie a cookie. The story happily ends as King Cookie has finally found what has been missing in his life all along! Just as Gabi and Cookie Monster finish this wonderful story, Alan comes in from the kitchen with a fresh, new batch of cookies for Cookie Monster. Theme: Literacy and Coping w/ Emotions. Letter S. Number 19.

Thursday, Aug. 19
"Baby Bear Adjusts to Curlys Big Growl" Baby Bear is shocked to find out that his baby sister Curly Bear has a louder growl than he does! This becomes a serious problem for Baby Bear who thinks that since hes the big brother, he should have a louder growl than his little sister. Baby Bear asks different people for help in trying to figure out how he can have a louder growl than Curly. Big Bird tries to help by telling Baby Bear to do exactly everything Curly Bear does when she growls (sucking her thumb, stretching her arms, tugging her ear), but that doesnt work. Then, Professor Gary Gill comes by with an animated letter "G," and tells Baby Bear that in order to have a louder growl, he must use his imagination to make the letter G" grow as he figures out words that start with the letter "G." This doesnt work either and Curly Bear still has a louder growl. Papa Bear then helps Baby Bear feel better by realizing that instead of being upset and embarrassed, he should be proud of having a sister who has such a special gift. Theme: Coping w/ Emotions and Social Interactions. Letter G. Number 20.

Friday, Aug. 20
"Elmo Feels Hes Treated Unfarily by Rocco" Elmo is excited to play with his friend, Gabi, who is working in Hoopers Store while Alan is away on vacation. Elmo also lets Zoe and Rocco to play with them, too. As they are playing, Zoe and Elmo run into arguments over what games they should play, then what games they should play first, and even about who is first in line to play. While playing on the tire swing, Elmo and Zoe learn how to play fairly by taking turns or riding on the swing together. After playing on the tire swing, they all eat snacks together. Elmo and Zoe get upset again as they are eating cookies since Zoe gives Rocco the cookie that Elmo wants. Elmo is even more frustrated since he thinks that it is unfair for Zoe to give a cookie to a rock. Zoe is extremely upset because she thinks Elmo is being unfair to Rocco by saying that it is just a rock. Gabi steps in and helps Zoe realize how Elmo has actually been very fair to Rocco all day. Elmo is also able to realize that he should be more understanding and nicer to Rocco since Rocco is Zoes friend. Theme: Social Interactions and Reasoning. Letter U. Number 3.

The Fairy Napmothers sparkly magic fairy dust doesnt seem to help Curly Bear fall asleep either. All of a sudden, Oscar the Grouch offers to help Baby Bear put Curly to sleep as long as they stop all the cutesy nap talk. 5:00AM The Mystery of Chaco Canyon

Chaco Canyon, located in northwest New Mexico, is perhaps the only site in the world constructed in an elaborate pattern that mirrors the yearly cycle of the sun and the 19-year cycle of the moon. How did an ancient civilization, with no known written language, arrange its buildings into a virtual celestial calendar, spanning an area roughly the size of Ireland? Why did this society, ancestors of todays Pueblo Indians, choose to establish the center of their world in the middle of such an arid, barren land? And why, after constructing buildings the size of the Roman Coliseum, did these same people deliberately seal them and abruptly leave? These enigmas have puzzled archaeologists for centuries. This program presents substantial evidence that the Chacoan people expressed a complex solar and lunar cosmology in their magnificent architecture. The discoveries documented in the film have transformed scientific understanding of this site one of the most elaborate and mysterious of ancient Native-American ruins and are revolutionizing perceptions of the Chacoan civilization.
