"Secret of Photo 51" April 2003 marked the 50th anniversary of one of sciences great milestones the discovery of the double-helix structure of DNA. This "cracking" of lifes essential molecular "cookbook" was credited to three British scientists, James Watson, Francis Crick and Maurice Wilkins. But their breakthrough would have been impossible without the work of a brilliant molecular biologist and crystallographer named Rosalind Franklin. In 1962, when the three men were awarded a Nobel Prize for their discovery, Franklins name wasnt even mentioned. Tragically, she had died of cancer, four years earlier at age 37. The cancer was probably the result of radiation exposure she suffered while taking the x-ray photographs of the DNA that were directly responsible for decoding its structure. NOVA investigates the life of Rosalind Franklin and her unsung contribution to one of sciences greatest discoveries. Through eyewitness accounts and the replication and re-enactments of numerous experiments, viewers will see the tragic story of a brilliant young woman and the male-dominated race to find the scientific secret of life.

"Baby Bear Tries to Teach Curly to Draw" Baby Bear is excited about trying to teach Curly Bear how to draw and Oscar and Grundgetta cant wait for something really grouchy to happen. However, Oscar is in for a big disappointment because Baby Bear shows great patience and defends his little sisters right to scribble and do what she can with her crayons. She even takes the crayon that Baby Bear is using and draws on his picture. Much to Oscars dismay, Baby Bear remains patient and understanding of how young Curly is and how much she still needs to learn. Baby Bear even teaches Curly a great song about sharing, but he realizes that maybe shes just not quite ready to share. Oscar and Grundgetta are thoroughly disappointed. It was not a grouchy day.
