2002-03 School Year in Review

Thanks to the educators in our service area, PBS 45 & 49's Department of Educational Services accomplished much in the 2002-03 school year:

Served 92 public school districts and 114 parochial schools in eight Ohio counties;

Provided 620 hours of ITV, 310 hours of which were part of the block feed schedule;

Delivered 143 educational technology professional development workshops to 1,984 teachers for a total of 7,725 hours of training;

Distributed 21,237 ITV Handbooks and sent out 19,500 TechKnowledgy Newsletters every month;

And did 35 ITV school visits and technical consultations for our districts, reaching 384 teachers for a total of 699 hours.

With input from teacher teams, we created and distributed three new multimedia packages:

Test Quest is a test preparation series for students in grades 4-10. The project includes video, a teachers guide and a Web site.

Masters of Gravity: Math & Science of the Soap Box Derby is a fun, hands-on series for students in grades 5-6 that tackles difficult math and science concepts. The multimedia package includes video, a CD-ROM, DVD, teachers guide and Web site.

Speaking of History ... Doing Oral History Projects is an interdisciplinary project built around the practice of collaboration for grades 4-12. The package includes a video and Web site.
