What's new at PBS 45 & 49
by David Benson, Educational Technology Consultant ()
Welcome back to a brand new school year! You know what? I think it's going to be a good year.
Why am I such an optimist? Consider this: just this past summer alone, we survived torrential rain storms, flooding and the worst blackout to hit any part of the United States. And who can forget some of the snowstorms from last winter, or the fantastic February freeze? After all that, I think we can handle just about anything.
We hope you had a good summer (except for the rain and the flooding and the blackouts) and that you are returning to your classroom refreshed, renewed, reinvigorated and ready to challenge your students for another year. We'll be there with you every step of the way.
We're rolling out three new PBS 45 & 49 multimedia projects this academic year: Masters of Gravity: Soap Box Derby Math & Science, which is available now; Antarctica: 90 Degrees South, premiering in January; and It's a Gas! Math & Science of the Blimp, coming in May. You can read about these new projects in the ITV Handbook. We also have new workshops, a new graduate-level credit program, new ITV series and a new staff member.
So sit back and enjoy the newsletter. Take a look at the new workshop offerings and the new ITV programming. Get to know our newest staff member and take a look at Maria Mastromatteo's article about testing standards and change. Here's to hoping you have a great year!
