Sharing Art
ITV Series Curriculum Web-Based Support
(Videoconferencing with artists is available by request.)
A multimedia opportunity to show your students real-world applications of the art techniques taught in grades 5-10 art classes.
There are artists among us who actually make a living making art! Sharing Art, produced by PBS 45 & 49's Department of Educational Services, demonstrates real-world applications of the techniques taught in grades 5-10 art classes. You'll be able to introduce your students to local artists via an Instructional TV series, an online curriculum and the web.
What is the ITV series?
Tuesdays at 10 am Sept. 17-Jan. 14
Thursdays at 10:45 am Jan. 9-May 8
Block feeds (lessons 1-10): Sept. 17 & 18, 3 am to 5 am;
Dec. 19 & 20, 3 am to 5 am; May 6 & 7, 3 am to 5 am
PBS 45 & 49's Sharing Art consists of fifteen 15-minute programs for students in grades 5-10. The first ten episodes of the series feature northeast Ohio art museums, artists and schools and include the following:
- An introduction to a museum piece of art
- A local artist explaining how he or she does comparable art
- Students in a local classroom doing a similar project
Each of the last five episodes (#11-15) spotlights two artists demonstrating and explaining their work (no classroom projects). Sharing Art's intent is for students to understand that the art projects they do in class can lead to a career or even display in a museum. The series demonstrates real-world applications of the techniques taught in art classes.
