My Web Pages Real Soon Now :-)
by Dirk Fischer, Educational Technology Consultant
I know, I know what took you so long? Well, I am finally going to bite the bullet and put together some Web pages on video: video production, video editing, video anything. Thanks to Steve Mitchell, there's a good start located at http://wneo.org/video/. I will be adding to this great beginning.
I'm planning to use short video pieces that should be viewable on any school computer platform to illustrate basic camera techniques for the studio and for field work; to show basic transitions and their uses in editing; and to depict other introductory kinds of techniques for shooting and editing. I will have audio- and music-related examples, too.
That's the beginning though. I really want to hear from you the teachers who are using or who would like to use video in your classrooms. There are programs available that would allow me to capture as video files the keystrokes, mouse clicks and menu selections used to perform various tasks with the computer programs that make all of this video possible.
Would specific illustrations of using specific computer programs be helpful to you? What programs would you like to see covered? Or do you think I should just stick to generalized, non-software specific concepts?
For those of you who have been using video for a while now, how do you want to expand your capabilities? Can you give me examples of what sort of advanced techniques would you like to see?
I hope I can cover quite a bit of territory before school starts up again in the fall so I'd love to hear from YOU. Now, all *I* have to do is figure out how this Web page stuff works&
