Some Video Resources

by Dirk Fischer, Educational Technology Consultant

We can always use pointers to good sources of information, so let me pass on some of mine to you.

Magazine: Computer Videomaker
Covers camcorders, computers, tools and techniques for creating video.

If your library isn't getting this already, beg for it. It's good for beginners and pros alike. Be careful: this one will "walk" if you don't watch it. Contact: Phone: ; Fax: ; Web www.videomaker.com

Book: Adobe Classroom in a Book
Series of hands-on software training workbooks for Adobe products; includes CD. If you use Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator or just about any Adobe product, these books will allow you to learn their products at your own pace. My interns really liked the Premiere version. Contact: Web: www.adobe.com/misc/books.html Publisher: Peachpit Press

Newsletter: About.com
Desktop video. About.com isn't just video, but their desktop video topic site is a winner. Contact: Web: www.desktopvideo.about.com/

Tutorial: FlickTips
Tips for low-budget video-Web production. This one is for making movies for the Web. Yell at me if you think it's too complex! Contact: Web: www.newvenue.com/flicktips

Ah, Video Folks: Video Guys
Helpful resource that explains many of the new technologies related to digital video. This is what we gadget folk grow into ... Contact: Web: www.videoguys.com

Well, that's just a few of the thousands of video resources out there on the 'Net. Many other useful resources can be found on the Adobe Website at www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/c092.htm. The Adobe site alone is a great resource.
