Introducing Producing Ohio
by David Benson, Educational Technology Consultant
Producing Ohio: Creating Our Economy, a collaboration of WCET and the Greater Cincinnati Center for Economic Education, is a multimedia economics curriculum for Ohio's 5th- and 6th-grade students. A dynamic learning tool, Producing Ohio encourages students to explore economic concepts through video, video streaming, the Internet, and hands-on and print materials. The cross-curricular lessons help teachers provide their students with the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed on the Sixth-Grade Proficiency Test.
Students across Ohio are getting to see how economic principles are applied in the business world around them and in products they use every day. Students learn from professionals at a variety of large Ohio-based companies.
Available to educators in March 2002, the Producing Ohio kit includes a curriculum guide, five instructional videos, lesson supplies and a companion Web site at http://www.producingohio.org.
