Some Scary Thoughts

  • If you watch the average amount of TV (about four hours a day, 28 hours a week, for both children and adults) you will have spent 13 years watching TV by the time you are 75 years old. (Source: The Smart Parent’s Guide to Kids TV by Milton Chen, Ph.D)
  • 26 percent of two- to four-year-old children already have a TV in their bedroom. (Source: The Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Report 1999)

It’s important to take a step back and pay attention to the media. Once in awhile just think about what you’re watching and how much you’re watching … you might be surprised by how much time has slipped by.
