Got Roots? Doing an Oral History Project

Let's Get Going!

Objective: Students will write what they think they would like to do as their final project and what equipment they will need.

Procedure:

  1. Divide the students into groups

  2. Discuss in groups
         • the topic of their oral history project
         • who they will interview
         • what the final format will be
         • what equipment they will need

  3. Each group will fill out the student handout. (Click here to get student handout.)

  4. Report back to the large group and develop a plan of how to proceed. (using student input to direct the plan)

Assessment: This is a planning activity. The only assessment will be completion of the student handout.
