As Time Goes By finale to air March 10 on PBS 45 & 49

Oscar winner Dame Judi Dench calls it quits after nine seasons on the popular British comedy

Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer star in As Time Goes By: You Must Remember This, a special in which their characters, Jean and Lionel Hardcastle, reminisce about old times and various events over the past few years. The hour-long program marks the end of nine broadcast seasons of As Time Goes By on both the BBC and on PBS stations. PBS 45 & 49 will air the finale on Monday, March 10 at 8 p.m. and repeat Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m.

A lot has happened since the first season of the series, when Jean and Lionel rekindled their love after a separation of 38 years. Now, the two are married. Jean is retired from her secretarial agency, which is now run by her daughter, Judith (Moira Brooker), and secretary, Sandy (Jenny Funnell). Lionel has retired as well. His book about his life in Kenya wasnt exactly a best-seller, but the publisher, Alistair Deacon (Philip Bretherton), became a regular visitor to the Hardcastle household and is now the son-in-law of Jean and Lionel.

In the final episode of As Time Goes By, Jean tries to talk Lionel into writing another book this one about their life together. The two take a nostalgic journey through nine seasons of the series to remember both funny and touching moments.

PBS 45 & 49 will continue to air As Time Goes By on Saturdays at 8 p.m. The series is among the most watched programs in the stations schedule.
